The 2012 Chicago International Poster Biennial (CIPB)
Is open to all current students of graphic design or a related art disciplines, anywhere in the world. Posters must be original designs, created in response to the theme. The theme draws upon the rich history of music in Chicago.Chicago has an amazing reputation as a musical city starting from the early 1900s with both blues and jazz being prevalent to the city. In addition, the rock and punk scene began in the 1980s and continues to this day. American Heavy Metal has had a presence in the city since the late 1990s. Most recently in the mid-2000s, Hip-hop and Rap emerged as a musical force in Chicago.
