Google is coming off a record 48 acquisitions last year (Wall Street Journal). What were they acquiring? Small startups that can be a source of new technology, talented engineers and revenue. Yahoo said they are now coming out with their guns blazing, stating, if you are not acquisitive, then you are strategically less relevant in the future (All Things Digital). What they mean is they are gearing up for a very big year, and, competing with Google (world) who is clearly on a roll.
